How to Do a Side Braid on Short Hair
Mainly, you just don’t want your hair to be too soft or slippery.
If your hair is in a middle or small side part, comb over your hair to make a deep part, and try not to keep it a correct straight line, its ok if it has a curve.
Take a bobby pin or two and clip back a small part of the back of your hair. This keeps it out of the way while you braid and serves as the hair that’ll wrap your bobby pins at the end. I advise using pins that are similar to the color of your hair.

Part your hair into three sections and begin the process of braiding it back. It assists to look in a mirror so you can notice what you’re doing.
Every time you pull a piece of hair over, grab another small section on each side like you would doing a french braid.
Keep braiding down as far as you can, continuing to grab hair from each side as you cross over your braid till you’ve gone as far as you can.
Using either a new bobby pin or the one that was holding the back section of hair, safe your braid to the spot you want it to sit on your head. It’s ok if the finish of the braid falls out that’s not secured in the pin.
Finish off with a mist of your preferred hairspray. I like to spray right on where the bobby pin is set at so it’s additional secure.
